Summer Fishing News
August 2008
One or other of the 21 and 23lb fish have been caught at least 4 times this season but need a skilled fisherman to catch them.
Great enjoyment has been had by those spending an hour or two on one of the smaller lakes with trout - losing count of the numbers they have caught and thrown back.
Spring / Summer in Cornwall
June 2008
We had a fantastic Spring at Woodlay! The primroses in April were beautiful and you could have enjoyed the Cornwall Spring Flower Show at Boconnoc. The bluebells in our woods were wonderful in May and you could have visited the Du Maurier festival in Fowey.
Why not book your fishing holiday early and come and enjoy some of this with us at Woodlay next year?
On 19th July the Lanhydrock Festival takes place with music and fireworks. We still have a few apartments available so come and fish and enjoy this and other festivals and events.
Fudge is growing
Our German shorthaired pointer is growing and now 5 months old. She stole some bait from an unsuspecting fisherman not realising there was a hook attached! After a trip to the vet we hope she has learnt her lesson.
Fishing News
Our big 21 and 23 lb carp are proving elusive to some but have been caught several times already this season. There have been some excellent fishing days for our guests and as well as catching beautiful coloured fish they are enjoying the warmth, sunshine and peace around our lakes. The trout in Spring and Deep lake have been fun to catch especially for the teenagers over half term. They lost count of the number they caught!
Wildlife and Animals
We continue to see deer from time to time and the highlight of the last couple of weeks have been the baby owls in our oak trees. The house martins are taking up residence again at the entrance to the Barn. We have had some dear little lambs and an Arab foal at Woodlay Farm.
Our New Puppy
March 2008
"Our new puppy fudge will be there to meet and greet you on your arrival at Woodlay"
Spring arrives at Woodlay
March 2008
Spring has arrived early in our valley and the daffodils and primroses are blooming. The refurbishment has gone well and there are new bathrooms in all but the Moey and Granary.
All the apartments have new kitchens installed and the carpets have been fitted. The whole place looks light and bright and we are sure you will have a wonderful holiday here. On chilly evening you will enjoy the new double glazed windows and central heating which also provides unlimited hot water for baths and showers.
Trout have arrived and been put in spring and deep lakes for those of you who fancy a bit of fly fishing.
Our new stock arrives
November 2007
A 21lb. Common Carp and a 23lb Mirror Carp took up residence in Woodland Lake in November 2007 and have yet to be caught!
At the same time a new stock of Bream were introduced into Woodland and Island lakes which increases the variety of fish to be caught next year.
