What do our guests say?
Recently we received these two lovely poems from Sharon, following her stay at Woodlay with her husband Neil. Thank you Sharon, hope to see you both again next year!
NOISY NATURE
Sitting here with the sun on my face
Listening to the sounds that surround
So peaceful and yet there's noise everywhere
From the sky, trees, lake and the ground
The birds in the sky, and also the trees
The waterfall into the lake
The sound of the fisherman with rod in his hand
And the noises that nature does make
The carp are splashing and swimming past
The rod with the hook and the bait
Its patience you need for fishing, I think
Just chill and be patient and wait
Its peaceful here but still there's the noise
Of all thats at waters edge
We should stop and listen and take it all in
Regularly make it a pledge
Just stop one day and shut your eyes
You'll be amazed at what you can hear
All the beautiful sounds that nature does bring
And the wonderful noise that's near

FORGET ALL YOUR WORRIES
The branches of the trees they are twisted
And the leaves they do like to rustle
It's a far cry from the world we know
Away from the hustle and bustle
You can really forget all your worries
You have when you are at home
Come down to the lake and go fishing
It's a real worry free place to go
The fisherman, he's caught a carp
Although he really wanted the tench
No matter, no worries, it's a catch
No reason for fists to clench
I can see why fishing's relaxing
And now that I've watched, I know
Its all about skill and patience
And making the time just to go
I'm so glad I came and I saw
All the wonderful things that I did
The duck, the squirrel and the spider
The dragonfly and robin that hid
It's especially nice to be with him
That fisherman that caught the fish
And the dragonfly that just landed onto my shoe
Like a fairy by to make a wish
Was a treat for a special persons birthday
And not for me, not at all
However, I've found that I like it
Watching fishing and seeing nature having a ball
So I think I'll come again one day
And sit by the waterside
With my love fishing next to me
And my poetry flowing with pride
